In the Songless game you hear 0.1 seconds of a song and get five guesses to name it, with longer clips arriving as you miss. The daily version at lessgames.com/songless is free and needs no account.
The name is the confusing part. At least seven sites and apps use it, and they aren’t the same product. I checked the Lessgames version by hand and read the others.
How Does the Songless Game Work?
Each round plays a short clip of a real song, and the answer goes into a song-search box. A wrong guess or a skip moves you down one of five rows. Each row has a longer clip.
How long do the clips get? They stepped up from 0.1 seconds to 0.5, 2 and 8, and the fifth row was 15 seconds. The How to Play box gives a color key: red for the wrong artist and song, yellow for the right artist but the wrong song, green for a hit.
When a round ends, a Game Over box shows the song and a chart of how many guesses it took everyone. On the day I looked, 14.8% of players had failed. The page also has genre tabs for All, Rock and Hip Hop.
I tested the layout and the flow, not my ear. I gave up on my round without playing a clip, so I can’t tell you how hard the songs are.
Is the Songless Game Free?
The daily game on Lessgames is free, and signing in is only for tracking stats and making custom games. The archive of past days sits behind a subscription.
The archive page shows a calendar under an overlay that offers the full archive with a Lessgames subscription, plus a Subscribe button. I didn’t click it, so I can’t give you a price.
Lessgames’ About page says it earns money from ads and subscriptions and will never take away anything it has made free. It also says everything you see or hear was made by humans, not AI.
Which Songless Is Which?
The name belongs to at least seven sites and apps, and Lessgames’ web game is the only one credited in the spin-off posts I found. Playlin’s chart of daily games, which lists the game as “by Lessgames”, had it at No. 14 for the week of October 19, with a peak of No. 1.

Domain registration dates only show when someone bought the name. They don’t show who built the game first. Nothing on the Lessgames page links to either phone app, and neither store description mentions Lessgames. The pages for the four other sites don’t mention it either.
What Is Songless Unlimited?
Unlimited is the label clone sites give to play with no daily cap, usually split by genre or decade. songless.org and songless.online both sell it that way, and playsongless.com advertises 34 music categories.
Does Lessgames offer its own unlimited mode? Its page let me start another round straight after the daily ended, using a Next button. I didn’t test how far that goes.
Why Are There So Many Copies?
The game has spawned spin-offs. A K-pop version called Kpopless credited lessgames.com/songless as its inspiration on r/kpoppers in November 2025, and an anime-openings version appeared on r/animeapp in April 2026.

Where can you play Songless?
On the web at Lessgames, with no download. Phone apps with the same name exist on the App Store and Google Play, but their listings name other publishers.
Is Songless a daily game?
Yes. The Lessgames version gives one puzzle per day, with a Today and All time tab on the results box. The archive of earlier days needs a subscription.
Do you need an account to play?
No. I played the daily puzzle signed out. Signing in adds stats tracking and custom games, according to the How to Play box.
What games are like Songless?
Any daily music guessing game fits, including Spotle, which uses artist attributes, and Crosstune, which uses a music crossword.
